Praia do Meco (Praia do Moinho de Baixo)
Less than 5mins drive, it is famous for its wide sandy beaches and clear surf. Head south and you will find a natural spring, the clay in this area allows for you to experience natural beauty treatments. Blue flag beach with lifeguard, restaurants, bar & facilities.
Praia das Bicas
One of the most sought after beaches on the Costa Azul and a 5min drive to the south of Meco, it is surrounded by the natural beauty of fossil cliffs and dunes. It is the extreme-sport lovers favourite spot for paragliding, surfing and bodyboarding.
Praia da Foz
A small south facing cove surrounded by the dramatic cliffs of Cabo de Espichel, this beach experiences the full force of the Atlantic waves and is ideal for fishing or sunbathing on windy days.
Lagoa de Albufeira
Part of a Natural Reserve, it offers excellent conditions for sailing, windsurfing, kitesurfing and canoeing. It is also the perfect spot for a stroll where many bird species can be seen. It is very much sought after by families with young children.
Portinho da Arrábida
You can find this delightful fishing village within the Serra da Arrábida Natural Park. It hosts a small beach nestled in a bay with calm, crystal blue-green water that is excellent for swimming and diving. Located on the Sado estuary you can often spot dolphins.
Sesimbra
Sesimbra Village
A very pretty and traditional fishing village surrounded by a beautiful bay. Discover its beaches and enjoy some of the most exciting food based on the very best fish and shellfish. It is a friendly relaxed town suitable for family fun and nights out.
Sesimbra Beaches
Sesimbra offers two centrally located beaches separated by the fortaleza. California to the east side of the bay and Ouro to the west. Both are popular blue flag beaches with smooth waters, excellent accessibility and facilities.
Fortaleza de Santiago
Directly on the beach in the heart of Sesimbra. Built in 1648 when the king ordered a line of fortified defences against pirate attacks and in the 18th century, it became the summer residence of the Royal Princes.
Porto de Abrigo
Fishing has long been a tradition and a sport. Sesimbra now brings in the highest value catches in Portugal. Also famed for its big game fishing including swordfish, Atlantic bluefin tuna and recently a 419kg blue marlin.
Street Life
From narrow cobbled streets with colourful azulejo clad houses to modern bustling squares with cafe's and shops, Sesimbra has a real soul. Today's sesimbra embraces both the old and new.
Markets
Surrounded by the countryside and the Atlantic Ocean, Sesimbra's markets sell some of the freshest produce available. Open daily except Mondays.
Carnaval
Marking the beginning of Lent and normally celebrated in the month of February. Sesimbra's carnaval features many events including elaborate processions of floats, music, samba dancers and one of the largest clown parades in the world!

Wine Route
Costa Azul is known for its excellent wines from Moscatel to Periquita and Fernão Pires. The Wine Route is a visit to some of the most outstanding vineyards of this region. A chance to sample, buy and experience their culture and tradition.

Quinta da Bacalhôa
A Renaissance estate in Azeitão inspired by Italian and Indian design. Tours of the Palace, gardens and surrounding vineyards can be booked. Its wines, Quinta da Bacalhôa and Palácio da Bacalhôa are amongst the most famous in Portugal.

Herdade da Comporta
Comporta wines benefit from unequalled conditions such as the sandy nature of the Troia peninsula combined with the micro climate of this ecological reserve. The grape varieties include Aragonez, Trincadeira, Arinto and Antão Vaz.

José Maria da Fonseca
Owned and managed by the same family for more than 200 years it is the oldest producer of table wines and Setubal Mostcatel in Portugal.

Castles & Monuments
Sesimbra Castle
Less than 10mins drive, it is the last Portuguese coastal castle to be built in the medieval style with an irregular layout that occupies the entire top of the hill. It enclosed the village of Sesimbra until the 16th century and now offers some amazing views.
Nossa Senhora da Consolação do Castelo
Within the Moorish castle, it stands on the spot where King Sancho I built a Romanesque chapel in the early 13th century. The present church was built in 1721. The walls of the church are inlaid with beautiful azulejos.
Cabo de Espichel
Known for its breathtaking views, chapels and monastery. Built extremely close to the edge of tall cliffs and in use for over 700 years. You can also find several dinosaur fossil trackways exposed in the Jurassic strata which form the cape's cliffs.
Ermida da Memória
Situated at cliffs edge in Cabo de Espichel, this unpretentious temple of medievel origin was built precisely on the spot where according to prayer tradition, the image of Our Lady appeared.

Quinta do Peru (Par 72 • Length 6036m)
Rocky Roquemore has designed this 18 hole course for amateur golfers yet it also represents a challenge for professional players. Voted amongst the top 10 courses in Portugal, its quality has led to it hosting several European Challenge Tour events.
Aroeira I (Par 72 • Length 6044m)
An 18 hole course designed by architect Frank Pennink. Specialists say it is one of the best in Europe and it has hosted the Portuguese and Ladies Opens. The English press named this course the "Wentworth of Lisbon" due to the clubs' similarities.
Aroeira II (Par 72 • Length 6367m)
Its 18 long greens wind around 5 lakes and the various tees for each hole mean it can be played by players of all levels. Regularly hosts the Qualifying School of Ladies European Tour and several Portuguese Ladies Opens. Designed by Donald Steel.
Troia Golf (Par 72 • Length 6320m)
Located at the tip of the Troia peninsula, lies one of Portugal's most fascinating and difficult courses. Robert Trent Jones Sr's signature can be seen on the 18 greens which are small, narrow and well protected by huge sandy bunkers.
